Oak Ridge Associated Universities

Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) recently shared information about several fellowship and research opportunities that may be of interest to S&T faculty and students. Read on and follow the links to learn more. Please note that many of these projects have tight deadlines.

ORNL Pathways to Computing Internship Program accepting applications , a 10-week summer program that provides undergraduate students with research projects in computer science and mathematics. Selections will be made on a rolling basis and continuing until applicants have been chosen. To be considered for selection, applications must be fully completed and submitted and two recommendations must be received within the Zintellect system. For best chance of selection, complete your application as soon as possible.  The internship begins on June 3, 2019, and ends on August 9, 2019.

Summer ORISE Fellowship Opportunity at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are available at the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Jefferson, Arkansas.  Selected individuals will train alongside NCTR investigators who conduct FDA mission-critical, translational research, that provides a scientifically sound basis for FDA regulatory decisions, and that reduces risks associated with FDA-regulated products. Application deadline is February 15, 2019 11:59 PM EST.   Reference deadline is February 22, 2019 11:59 PM EST.  For additional information about this opportunity, NCTR or FDA, please visit www.FDA.gov.

The Nuclear Engineering Science Laboratory Synthesis Program is accepting applications for spring and summer 2019. This cooperative research initiative is  geared toward students working in nuclear engineering and science. Applicants seeking an internship in summer 2019 must apply by February 28, 2019. Program applications for summer 2019 internships must be submitted through the online application system.

Intelligence Community Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program is accepting applications through March 1, 2019, 6:00 PM EST.  The Program supports postdocs to conduct research at universities, colleges, and U.S. government laboratories throughout the United States.

Artificial Intelligence Summer Institute (AISI) is a collaboration with ORNL scientists to address problems of national and scientific interest, engage in educational and professional development opportunities, explore career opportunities at national laboratories, and interact with and present their research to ORNL's scientists. The application deadline is March 31, 2019, 11:59 PM EST.

Computational Science and Technology Advanced Research Studies (C-STARS) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory . C-STARS participants conduct challenging computational research in areas that support ORNL missions, with current openings in software engineering, geographic information systems, and life and medical sciences database research. This opportunity is open to current graduate students with a GPA of 3.5/4.0 or higher and those who have received a master’s degree within the last five years; there is no citizenship requirement.

Data Management and Curation Fellowship at the National Transportation Library (NTL) is an opportunity to gain hands-on learning and skills in data management and data curation best practices, relating to transportation data, including aviation data produced by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics offices and funded researchers.

Geospatial Data Creation and Curation Fellowship at the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) DOT is leading the development of new and improved national geospatial transportation products in the era of big data. Through this opportunity you will learn to create and curate geospatial datasets related to our nation's transportation systems that are used by government officials, researchers, and the American people.
