The Office of the Vice Chancellor of Research (OVCR) strives to identify and announce funding opportunities that feature sponsor-imposed institutional submission limits and to fairly select Missouri S&T designees.

Selection for limited submission funding opportunities is competitive. Instructions for those wishing to serve as Missouri S&T’s designee for a limited submission funding opportunity are below.

Limited submissions process

When the OVCR is made aware of a limited submission funding opportunity far enough in advance, a three-step process will be initiated to select Missouri S&T’s designee(s).

Step 1

Submit an expression of interest (EOI), using the instructions above, to by the deadline provided in the announcements.

Step 2

If necessary, the OVCR will communicate whether or not an internal competition will be required.  If it is, please follow the instructions above to submit a letter of intent (LOI) by the deadline provided.

Step 3

If an internal competition is required, the OVCR will notify all applicants of their selection status via email.  If your proposed project is selected as Missouri S&T’s designee, you are authorized to submit your proposal.

In cases where the time to deadline is too brief to allow for these three steps, the OVCR will establish and communicate a curtailed selection process to PIs who express interest in the limited submissions opportunity. For regularly-competed opportunities, only an LOI (no EOI) deadline will be announced.

Please note: in the case of large, complex funding opportunities, it may be in your best interest to work on team formation and other foundational proposal development before and during the limited submission competition.
